Ms. McMillan,

The mother has requested a variance to attend Holly Hill rather than attend Indian Trails so that the children will have stability. I had Zachary this weekend and had a chance to review your notes. Things are very hectic for both parents right now due to trial coming up on Wednesday. That is probably why Stacy forgot to sign the previous school weeks report.

I understand that Zachary has been distracted in class. This may be a reflection of what is going on at home in addition to the fact he was looking forward to going to Indian Trails. I have spoken to him about his behavior and hope to see improvement.  I appreciate you letting me know of his behavior and will work with Zachary as much as possible in the future. If you have any suggestions on improving his academic skills please let me know. I would like to schedule a conference with you in February for updates on Zachary. Please let me know what is a good time for you.

Thanks again,

 David Prather

Ms. Padgett,

It seems Mirrissa thought she had to take her Math book home because she would be starting at a new school in January. With the move at the end of the year it seems to have been lost in the packing. I have spoken to the mother and she has now located it and will be dropping it off at my house Monday morning. So if everything goes well then Mirrissa will have it Monday.

I would like to schedule a conference with you in February for updates on Mirrissa. Please let me know what a good time is for you.

Thank you for your continuing concern for my daughter, I know she is a handful.

Ms. Padgett,

Thank you for sending Mirrissa’s Report card to me.  I understand Mirrissa missed school last Wednesday. The kids told me that Mommy did not feel good so they stayed with her at home. I have made it clear I am available to drive the kids anywhere they need to go.

Please let me know if the kids are missing from school again.

Ms. Padgett,

Thank you very much for your time yesterday to discuss Mirrissa’s progress. Although, I fully understand that you are in a difficult position with an uncooperative mother, I am saddened to know that there is nobody in Mirrissa’s life that can help her learn to succeed in life.  I do not believe holding Mirrissa back in 2nd grade will be beneficial for her, nor do I think progressing her to 3rd grade be doing her any favors. She needs individual attention period. She needs a close attachment to the right adult to mature emotionally and individual supervision if we want her to progress academically at the intelligence level we know she is capable.

Thank again for your time today,

David Prather

Ms. Padgett,

Thank you for forwarding copies of Mirrissa’s work at school.  Situation with Stacy has progressively gotten worse over the last few months. I am now seeing the children every other weekend as ordered by the court. Even in the short time that I am with them I have seen their behavior progressively worsen. Mirrissa’s work you sent me confirms what I have already observed in her.  And due to unknown reasons, Stacy has continued to tell both children and other adults around them that they are getting straight A’s in school. Unfortunately, it is my belief that Stacy neither has the ability nor inclination to be a better parent to the children.  At this point, I am unable to have any sort of input in to the children’s everyday life. I am resigned to hoping the children will be able to raise themselves.  I appreciate you taking the time to send me the copies of Mirrissa’s work because I understand that it shows that you care about her.

I will be moving soon and below is my new mailing address should you need anything. Thank you again for your concern. David Prather
